Publishing & Networking from speaker Laura Wind
Bookbuilders of Boston lists publishing networking events, book show information, NEPCo information, publishing job postings, etc. (following them on Facebook helps).
Bookjobs.com list is a great resource.
Mediabistro has networking events (look in the events section for those).
PMI runs project management meetings (pmi.org).
There are tons of other non-publishing networking events in Boston including events for women professionals, professionals in their 20s, professionals in their 30s, etc.--pretty much any possible categorization is probably out there (try searching for “networking” in meetup.com for lots of options).
I attend a lot of User Groups of softwares I use (for example, I’m attending one for Salesforce.com next week), which connect me to other companies of different industries that are using the same software solutions. You learn a lot about other industries this way and sometimes come up with creative solutions to unique ways of using it that you hadn’t considered before.
